Almost wherever you go these days, on either side of the Atlantic, there are residential and commercial properties which have seen better days and reflect the straitened circumstances in which many of us live today.

This 1920 house in West Palm Beach caught my eye for several reasons. It stands out on a large, urban plot and is evidently boarded up but the roof looks in good condition and there is a satellite dish. There is a wheelchair outside which I took, also, to be abandoned until a closer inspection revealed what appeared to be a figure in a sleeping bag at the top of the steep steps.

What story remains untold here?
