Regeneration - 21 October 2014


Of all the creatures in Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, I was most enchanted by the Horseshoe Crabs. Essentially unevolved in 450m years, they are absolutely remarkable. To grow larger, they must moult their exoskeleton and this has happened recently to the crab in this picture which is resting away from the other crabs, while the new exoskeleton hardens. The last version is shown in the previous picture.
