Great Central Railway (4) - 15 July 2014

BR Class 2 2-6-0 78019 running through Loughborough Central. The locomotive was on its way to Quorn & Woodhouse for a photoshoot and I would describe its condition as 'authentically grimy'. Much though I appreciate the amount of effort which goes into restoration and preservation, I do not always like to see locomotives in absolutely immaculate condition as they were perhaps only once in their lives. For me, the romance of an age which, in the depths of the then Southern Region, I mostly did not see, lies in the recreation of working conditions for locomotives.
