The sharp surreality of the everyday. A viewer tries to read the runes; a cleromancy, working out the message left by some street deity. The photographer as shaman. Journey. What’s there in this frame?

Certainly an exploration, a collage, an intervention. It challenges looking to build something. It’s Lego; it’s thirsty work. The built environment crumbles around us. Look at it; look at it here. A kind of Romantic beauty; not sunsets and shining lakes, but asphalt, kerbstones, red paint, yellow paint. Parched clumps of grass will do for forests, rubble for mountain sides.

Or is it a synecdoche of destruction, where, at any moment, a child’s hand might reach down and begin to order the pieces to block out the surrounding days. Days like these.

I always find it exciting to do something unfamiliar and then see how it turns out.

I thought the picture looked like a collage, although it isn't, because I found the objects in the picture and didn't arrange them in a creative way. The only creative intention is to divide the picture into four equal quarters - hence the title. I like your "tongue-in-cheek" approach; that's how it should be: With wit, interest and a smile.

When selecting the pictures, I was reminded of an exhibition of collages by the Dada artist Kurt Schwitters (1887 - 1948). The creator of anarchist and bizarre works, who was always correctly dressed in a hat and coat, collected discarded rubbish in the gutter on his walks to turn it into pictures, of which around 200 have survived. Perhaps Schwitters' works inspire you as much as they do me, I haven't forgotten them. By the way: Schwitters last lived in exile in Great Britain.

I know his work very well and love it. I’ve visited his artworks around the UK. His writings are an inspiration. The ‘tongue-in-cheek’ is part of the spirit of Dada, I think.
He really stands at the centre of my pantheon of artists. Good to think that your photograph ( and my response) prompted thoughts of Schwitters.

PS. The group *Italo-Byzantine Vacuity was set up very much in the spirit of Dada.

Am 1. März 23 hatte ich schonmal zwei Versionen derselben Aufnahme eingestellt (https://www.test.ipernity.com/doc/2722062/51794512), verbunden mit der Frage, welche davon die bessere wäre. Und schon damals hatte Kurt Schwitters Pate gestanden ;-)

Die obige Version steht übrigens auf dem Kopf.
Wenn man das Bild um 180 Grad dreht, sieht man das, was ich durch den Sucher erblickte. Aber die "richtige" Fassung erschien mir eher reizlos.

Die Fotografie ist ein tolles Instrument, um verschiedene Blickwinkel einzunehmen.
Und Fantasie ist wirklich der Schlüssel zu vielem - vielleicht zu allem?

Ich denke, das gilt auf jeden Fall im Persönlichen
(Motto: Der Schädel ist rund, damit die Gedanken auch mal die Richtung wechseln können).

Es gilt aber auch im "Großen Ganzen". Ohne den Mut zu unerprobten Lösungen gibt es wohl keine Chance, aus dem selbst angerichteten weltpolitischen Schlamassel einigermaßen heil herauszukommen.

Una imagen por si sola quizas (aunque tenga unes regals definidas) no termini de funcionar completamente. Has probado de haver un collage con 4 de estàs image es, o 6, o 8? Creo entender la idea del trabajo y es apasionante.
Hace tiempo que tengo en la cabeza un collage con detalles ínfimos de las piedras de los mutis de mi casa. Es otra història pero el método de trabajo quizás se le parezca.
