Funchal Park Fence (HFF)
HFF!
Taken when our 2013 cruise stopped in Funchal, Madeira. This is a great destination.
This iron fence is part of the border for a major public park on the hill above the city. Lovely gardens, there, too.

Ray of Light
During our visit to Grand Canary on the 2013 cruise, we took a tour of the area. The tour included the small town of Teror. This is the Basilika "Nuestra Señora del Pino". Once inside this church, I was quite taken with the strong ray of light coming in from the high window, and striking the columns.

Lily Pads and Frog
Taken on Grand Canary, Spain. We were taking a tour from our cruise in 2013, and stopped in the small town of Teror. There was a very nice park with a pond full of lily pads, turtles, and this lone frog.

Bougainvillea

Taken on Grand Canary, Spain. We were taking a tour from our cruise in 2013, and stopped in the small town of Teror. These bougainvillea in the sun were so pretty, I had to take a photo.
Try viewing on a black background.

Doorway and Entrance
Saw this remarkable bit of architecture in Cartagena, Spain, during our visit in 2013 on the Maasdam.
The city area near the pier has some amazing buildings, some of which are in Art Noveau style.
Here there is both excellent woodwork (door), and nice marble (entry hall and steps).

Do Not Cross The Red Line (HFF)
Took this from our cabin on the Liberty of the Seas, while docked in Cozumel, Mexico. I wanted the image to include the dire warning about the RED LINE.
However, imagine my surprise, when processing the image, I saw that there were fences (albeit temporary) in the shot.
So this is my FIRST HFF image, uploaded today, Friday. Hope you enjoy.

Oregon Fog

Taken along the coast highway in Oregon in 2008-09.
This was the walk down to a lighthouse, and the area was shrouded in fog when I caught this image.

Berries at Farmers' Market, Ogden, Utah, 2014
I put the older Sigma 70-300 macro lens on my Nikon D700, and wandered around downtown Ogden, Utah. They were having a street fair and farmers' market, so there were plenty of subjects.
I like the selective focus. View in larger size on black background.

Lupins, Denali National Park, Alaska (H.A.N.W.E.)
This was actually a "lens test" I did while wandering around our campground at Denali National Park, Alaska.
I was testing the macro capability of the Sigma lens I was using on the Nikon D700 camera. In this case, I closed down to F16, and got more good flower detail. But even with some detail, there is a bit of nice bokeh here.

Rock and Rapids, Little Susitna River, Alaska

Taken during a side trip near Wasila, Alaska. I was using an older Sigma 70-300 macro lens with the Nikon D700. Worked fine.

Wall of Acropolis, Athens (HWW)

Taken during our 2009 cruise when we visited Athens. As we were climbing (and climbing), I saw this foundation wall with the plants poking out.

The scenery in this town was wonderful. A lot of people had put in the work to enhance the scene with plantings.

Sit and Enjoy the View (HBM)

Taken on the beach near our house on Maui (1999-2008). After retirement, we often walked on the beach at sunrise.
Someone had placed a bench for viewing.

Tulips, Butchart Gardens
Taken in 2007, when we were on a cruise to Alaska. It was a perfect day to photograph, and as usual, the staff at Butchart had the plantings just right.
I especially like the contrast between the yellow tulips and the blue ground-cover behind and below. Looks best when viewed on a black background.

(Fire)Truck in Talkeetna, Alaska
This Mercedes (fire)truck was parked in downtown Talkeetna, Alaska. Just had to get a photo of it. I think that it has been restored as a vehicle for one of the local bars. (There seem to be a lot of bars in Talkeetna...)

SIgn posted at entrance to a bar in Talkeetna, Alaska. I like those rules!

This quote may not be in the great literature, but it is a quote for Sunday Challenge.
Below is a suggestion that this be added to the "Italo-Byzantine Acuity" group, so they will have some rules (of some sort).
