Tot 1867 had het Fort een Militaire Functie-- De Bataafs Franse tijd in nederland duurde van 1790 tot 1841--vandaar dat de franse vlag erboven nog wappert--toen nederland in 1810 door napoleon bij het franse koninkrijk hoorde zal napoleon daarboven wel vaak van het uitzicht hebben genoten
