The tall building in front of the Empire State building is 250 West 34th street and constructed in 1970, just 11 years before our visit in 1981. 230m high with 57 floors. The tall building on the left side of 34th street is the New Yorker 34th Street and 8th Avenue. Art Deco building completed in 1930. Looking towards the American Merchant Mariner’s Memorial and Pier A Harbor House, Battery Park (Scan from June 1981) The concrete block to the middle right of the original picture may be part of The East Coast Memorial. The building structure now obscuring The Mariners Memorial and Harbor House in 2024 is State City Cruises and was constructed around the year 2000.
