Looking to the Long Mynd from Bury Ditches (Scan from 2002)

Looking to the Long Mynd from Bury Ditches (Scan from 2002)
Magnificent place for lunch on a warm day in May 2002. The views from Bury Ditches can be seen in the following pictures.

Dating from about 500BC, Bury Ditches is home to one of the best-preserved hill forts in the country.

The view from the top, where we had dinner, is magnificent, including some of the hills we had already climbed on the Shropshire Way. (The Stiperstones, Wenlock Edge, and the Clee Hills.) Also visible is the Clun Forest and the Kerry Hills. The view from here had been lost for several years due to the plantation of conifers by the Forrestry Commision, but in 1978 a storm flattened many of them and they have not been replanted.
