A ''Happy fence Friday'' from -Dj.. ....Renishaw hall.

The main entrance gate of 'Renishaw Hall' - a country house close to 'Eckington' in Derbyshire,. It is a Grade I listed building and has been the home of the Sitwell family for nearly 400 years.
The house was built in 1625 by George Sitwell (1601–1667) The Sitwell fortune was made as colliery owners and ironmasters from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The house - gardens and lakes are open to the public.

Just by the entrance and the grounds that are visible in your picture the place looks beautiful David. I imagine the Sitwell family must have their own private wing that is not accessible by the public. It must be strange having a constant stream of visitors to your property, but I imagine it all helps with the upkeep. Beautifully captured.

I like the rather grand gates and fence shown here David. The Sitwell family have a connection with Scarborough you my be aware of. They had a large house on The Crescent in the town from about 1870 until the first world war. There is a Sitwell street in Scarborough today. Thanks for the interesting notes.
