''Earlsborough terrace''.. - in the 'City of York' .. alongside the river 'Ouse' which is noted for regular flooding during prolonged and heavy rains.. the river water will rise up the steps and continue to cover the gardens - and eventually enter the house.. meaning that all the properties are fitted with the grey watertight gates seen here, and will be tightly closed during floods.
The walls at each side of the gates.. need to be 100% watertight too.

Amelia ^club

Interesting brickwork and elegant architecture. These houses are far better protected than most of those who live in the flood plain of the River Severn, especially those south of Shrewsbury.
