Ja, rein optisch fällt die Unterscheidung echt nicht leicht. Irgendwo habe ich gelesen, dass an den (einem der?) Großen Seen sogar die Gezeiten wirksam sind - als einziges Süßwasser-Gewässer weltweit.
Der Begriff Binnenmeer ist allerdings schon anders besetzt: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binnenmeer (wusste ich so auch nicht ... ich dachte immer an abflusslose, salzhaltige Seen - Neusiedler See, z.B. ;-)) )

Das Beste aber ist, wenn du bei dem wiki-Artikel auf die englishe Version gehst, Inland sea, heißt es dort, glaube ich: vöööllig andere Definition steht da! Musst mal schauen.

Zusammen genommen mit dem Lake Michigan (und hydrodologisch sind sie wohl eine Einheit -> Wasserspiegel auf gleichem Niveau) sogar der Größte!
