Remember Petrol? At 8 gallons a pound?

I'm trying to remember what it cost the year I passed my test (1975), and it has defeated me! I like this nostalgic shot!

Oh I certainly do Nick.....well maybe not quite that far back!! The other day I found some photos my father took of Light's Garage in Gillingham, just before it was demolished for a Lidl store! I passed my test in 1972...I wonder what it was a gallon back then!

I can remember filling up my Hillman Imp in 1969 for about £5. Now I'm paying about £45 to fill up my very small road tax free Suzuki Alto. Of course I'm far too young to remember when petrol prices were 8 gallons to a pound, but I know it's always been cheap in the USA even now I think.

I remember the Hillman Imp but don't know the Suzuki Alto, I'll have to look it up. My Landrover needs a security guard to carry the money when it fills up. Luckily my company has a diesel tank that I can fill up at free of charge.

I'm feeling a tad better thank you, but still coughing and thirsty. I am trying to do some catch up in the garden which hasn't been dealt with for far too long. The Dahlias which had just started to sprout through the soil 2 weeks ago are now withering because of drought and heat. So thorough watering to the soil only this morning. I won't be able to have a bath for a week now because of the water meter reading. :-))))

Take it easy dear LGM and remember that it is not healthy to be out of the water for so long :~)
