Red kite are becoming more numerous, and it's possible that they will be targeted by farmers once more. They are so elegant with the forked tail. When we visited Newbury a couple of months ago there was one that flew over the allotments almost continually.

I find them so graceful in flight, a pair fly over our house daily. There are hundreds of them around Stokenchurch which is my favourite location when trying to take pictures of them.. They are no threat to Farmer's livestock, but you get various old tales about them carrying off cats etc (All of which are too heavy for a Red Kite to carry

Beautiful. So strange to see the food in the claw. I would think it would be in the beak.

Quite common for the Red Kite Dany, they swoop down from the sky grab the food and immediately fly upwards again

What a lovely shot Nick .. still not seen much of these around the Lincolnshire countryside yet compared to the numerous Buzzards but i am sure the day will come

Best wishes ... Steve

Hi Steve ~ They are a wonderful sight especially when playing with each other. They ride the thermals gracefully too. Lincolnshire might be a bit too flat for them, but as you say ~~~~ Sooner or later

All the best

Hi Nick

I really like this. I remember you had a lot of bird pics like this on Pano.

Superb clarity and colours

Did I see a ring on his leg? So, maybe he isn't so wild after all?

Best Wishes, and a good weekend
Peter

Hi Peter, yes there is a ring as the welfare of the birds is closely monitored ~ He is definitely wild though see www.chilternsaonb.org/about-chilterns/red-kites.html All the best Nick
