This was the fence blocking the way for this locomotive!

Please look carefully!!
This bridge used to be the link between the Manchester Ship Canal railway (servicing the docks, warehouses, and factories in the vicinity) and the rest of the British Railways network, (via the interchange yard on the other side of the canal). Now the docks have been re-developed, the Ship Canal railway is long gone, and this fence stops the public trying to walk over the bridge into the container terminal on the other side.
The wall behind the bed.
Table in the park!
Stop for a rest on the bench behind!!

5690 was built at Crewe in March 1936 and named Leander after HMS Leander, which in turn was named after the Greek hero Leander. From March 1936 it was based at Crewe North shed where it remained until 1947 when it was transferred to the former LMS engine shed at Bristol (Barrow Road). After nationalisation in 1948, it was renumbered 45690 by British Railways.
After being withdrawn in 1964, Leander was sold to Woodham Brothers scrapyard in Barry, South Wales.
Progress stopped by a fence across the tracks.

HFF!
These railway tracks are completely gone now. The fence remains, and the locomotive is a long way away!
