Wise Owl waiting for the moon to rise!

What a beautiful subject he makes. I like the lighting and the sky makes a beautiful backdrop.

Did you use a flash here?

There is a bit of context to this photo, in that I had just been to the lake ( www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/50886818 ) for the sunset, and then a walk round the field to the owl as part of a camera club outing, so what you can see is the last of the evening light.
As you quite rightly figured out, I did use a flash. The other settings were ISO 200, f 5.6 and 1/125 sec. (plus a white balance adjustment)
Strangely, the others I was with didn't seem interested in this owl.... Perhaps they were so happy to have seen the sunset!

Thanks so much for the info, Peter. You used your flash just right to give it enough light but not any glare. The result is very pleasant.
