I often wonder why the put these sort of fences up.
They look pretty useless!

I suppose a determined vandal can get past anything, but it will at least keep those with even lower intelligence from crawling along over the pipe when a train is coming!!

Unfortunately we do have youths of such low intelligence here that they will crawl along this pipe, and then fall off just when a train is coming.... Especially if it is a steam train belching lots of black smoke....
