A busy main line runs over the top, and when I walked under it I saw no problem, so despite the piece of concrete on the right having subsided, it is probably OK...

I checked this out as a possible site for the Midland Pullman a couple of weeks later www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/50527046 , and due to a convenient pile of rubble blocking vehicle access under the bridge (made a few inches higher by the later addition of that concrete block in the foreground) gave a track level view.

It would have worked on a dry day, but too exposed if raining, so I went for Bedford station instead. Less risk of failure.
Access to here is actually quite simple, there is a public footpath parallel to the track!
