MAURICE! ~~ GOODNESS GRACIOUS! do you mean to tell me you do not know what Grits is??? OH NO! :)) then Maurice, you have NOT LIVED yet. :)) Ive NEVER known LIFE without GRITS:) it is FINELY ground Corn, over and over and over again, until this fine delicious cereal. cooked until creamy, soft and ready for your plate !!! with butter, not not, or add cheese, ( I love cheese grits, these were not however, just butter/margarine... AND Maurice, listen to this, we women of America came up with what G.R.I.T.S. stands for. : "Girls Raised In The South"...isn't that the coolest thing!!
that loco is on ladies' T shirts, sweaters etc, if a lady chooses to wear the items .... NOW, you have had a good lessen on "the South",,,,known as God's Country, Maurice. :)))))

Well Sarah, Sorry to have disappointed you, never in my 73 years have I heard of this, I am sure I would like it but I feel I would need to be in the southern states to savour the taste. Corn is not high on the vegetable list as things go here, Traditionally Brussel sprouts, cabbage, Carrots, peas & parsnips are the leading contenders Corn is usually bagged or eaten on the cob with butter, sometimes spread on salads or added to Pizza or tuna fish as a filler.

No No Maurice, NOT disappointed....was joking with you ! :))) sorry it did not come across that way. Corn is used here in America is so many different ways. you have named vegetables in your reply that are used here often,.. here at our home the cabbage, broccoli, carrots and peas are used often !! AND ESPECIALLY Corn on the Cob with butter :)) thanks Maurice Sarah

Well that certainly is some detailed discription of what Grits is my dear Sarah or should i say my dear G.R.I.T.S :))

I can say without a doubt i have never had boiled shrimp and baked beans together so may try that one day too :))

I may even sit and eat it off a mighty fine dinner tray like the one you have here with its anti-slip cloth :))

Hey Steve, HAHA Glad you enjoyed my description of the G R I T S ! That's me :))) for sure and so proud of that !! well now we normally would not have the baked beans on this plate but I had them in the frige so Mr.O wanted them warmed for this meal. usually it would be the other 3 items shown there :)) so overlook the beans here :)))) OH Yeah, go get you one of these fine food trays... we love it, we both use one when we take our meal to watch TV:)))

I was as one with Maurice except that I had heard of grits in American literature without knowing what they were! I agree with Steve that the combination of beans and prawns (OK I know you call them shrimps) does look strange to British eyes but might be worth a try!!

Hello Andy, thanks for your visit to my plate of Shrimp w/ beans:))) IF you read all my reply to Steve. you may have seen that we don't NORMALLY eat beans with Shrimp ( NOT Shrimps) but this meal did include them, my husband likes these beans anytime :)) You British friends SHOULD try it however l :))) BUT make sure you choose the right beans Andy :)))

I have had gritz in the USA, but I guess it is an aquired taste. Beans and prawns,, well I must try them!
