Hey Andy! Well let me explain :)) this is NOT a cake! Do not know why it is called CAKE. the Funnel name comes from how it is made...a large funnel , and we all know what that is, It can be a paper funnel, or metal, filled with this batter and squeezed into hot oil, letting the batter form those shapes as it comes from the funnel, placing the amount of batter you see here all connected as it fries quickly, slightly browned and while warm, sprinkled with powered sugar... sold to you while warm, and there you go, Funnel Cake! the batter does resemble cake, and may be a cake type recipe... It is a fantastic taste and don't think you could eat but ONE! :)) we shared this one, and then tried to walk off the calories.... NOT! :)) Sarah
