Steam engine or traction engine (I know someone will put me right very quickly!). Maurice gave me steam traction engine, which I am happy to go with! And yet, steamroller is the correct term (thank you José Manuel!)

A very nice picture, and a very interesting piece of machinery.
I do agree with Stoneroad, it does look like an Aveling and Porter, but I am not an expert. I also note it is right hand drive, so maybe not French or Spanish..
The emblem on the front will tell you, if it is still there!!
I certainly remember the days when a steamroller like this would be used to lay tarmac on the road!
