One autumn (not this one) in the Sierra de La Cabrera. These sweet chestnuts are resting on the monastery wall.

Sight and Sound. I had a friend who got involved with a wife (possibly ex-wife) of Ginger's. His life was made rather "awkward" to say the least, as Ginger knew quite a number of - let us say - 'shady' characters. It took about 10 years for my friend to breathe easily and stop glancing round street corners before proceding!

I played this in my room as a teenager and it would have been in about 1972, so a few years after the band's existence. I was just getting into Cream, Hendrix, etc, while all my contemporaries were discovering T Rex, Slade and so on. I liked these bands too but recognised the intrinsic musical superiority of the masters! (I was an elitist even then). My father heard me playing "I heard my Train a-coming" (live version I forget from whatever album) - Hendrix and he surprised me by saying he hadn't expected to hear the blues as mainstream popular music. He was used to the traditional blues singers from the 40s and 50s and he introduced to me to Billie Holliday and so on. A good interchange I feel!
