A square in Plasencia.
Cacares Province, Estramadura. Nobody there. Everyone that can afford to has gone away to the cooler north of Spain. Everyone else is firmly indoors with the blinds down.

Thank you Wally. We shared the driving and hardly drank on that holiday; my girlfriend because she doesn't drink much anyway and me because I was on a programme supervised by my endocrinologist to try and reverse my high blood-sugar readings (I'm diabetic) and it worked well, although I confess that I do have the odd beer or glass of wine with a meal; I just compensate elsewhere in my diet!

What a gorgeous picture of this square. I notice that you say that it was extremely hot, so everyone were cooling down indoors!! I can imagine the sun's heat bouncing off those flagstones, causing everything and everyone to overheat.

No one was around because 1) everyone except me goes away in August and 2) it was lunchtime and all those who were left behind were sensisbly ensconsed indoors with shutters down, Venetian blinds firmly closed and all windows and doors firmly shut!.
But yes I like this little square!
