I wanted to say thank you for relating your computer game experience to me! I felt like I was right there with you, all those years ago. Space Invaders indeed! :) I grew up at the perfect time to enjoy video games and loved them. However, I also spent plenty of time outdoors--moreso than in. As an adult, games have certainly dug their teeth into me, but yet again, I have tried to achieve a balance. Games have also given me a way to escape from pain and anguish when it has settled over me, and helped me through to the other side. I used to think that video games were best avoided, but after all these years, I have come to learn that they have a real value and cannot be duly confiscated in the "Wasted Time/Wasted Life" pile. Shades of grey. :D
Andy Rodker club has replied to Janet Brien clubI have a new student at one of the big four auditing firms who is 32 years old and when I had my introductory first class with him and asked about his interests and hobbies, he said 'gaming'. He said he wasn't embarrassed to be still an addict at his advanced age(!) because he needed his inside knowkedge for work. Apparently there are some major companies in that field who need accountancy and auditing services and he was the firm's 'go to' man when it came to these things!
When I said I had never played a computer game in my life, he thought I was joking! I suspected that he was going to request a different teacher; he was that astonished! Nevertheless we get on well and I have learnt a few things!
