Pond

Pond
The three photos I've posted today are of a pond just down the road from our home. Though it nearly dries up in the summer it is home for numerous ducks and geese in the spring and is full of water then. We've even seen several Moose around the pond. It is on private property so we have not been able to explore it or walk around it but usually stop when we are out walking.

Fred Fouarge, ╰☆☆June☆☆╮, Nora Caracci, Annemarie and 17 other people have particularly liked this photo

TERRRRRIFIC!!! What a trio of wonderful pictures of this pond! I love the reeds, the warm colors and reflections too. Such a picturesque place! I forgot there are actually moose where you live. That's just NUTS! You are so LUCKY!!! There are a few elk in our area but I've never seen one on our property. Steve has though, and when he saw the small group hop our gate and trot off into the woods, he was totally blown away. In the many years we've been here, that's the only time we've ever seen them. Both of us assumed they were long-gone from here but obviously we were wrong. BLM is very close so I would bet they are present there. Just didn't know they came down this way. We have seen them a few miles away in large groups--me once, Steve plenty--and his description of seeing them materialize out of the fog and then back into it...sounds breathtaking. Anyway, you are so lucky. I know moose can be very dangerous and you keep your distance, but what a treat to see them sometimes. :)

I hope you're doing GREAT Ron! Christmas is fast-approaching but as usual, we don't have plans except to hide under a rock! :D Family consists of my two brothers and their families (brian-wife, doug-family) and they're down in the SF area. No plans are ever made so we just do our thing. My dad tried to get us together but without him, we just don't. It's another reason I enjoy hearing about your shin-digs. It's always hoppin' in your neck of the woods, and fun to take part in vicariously! :)

I've been having fun playing my mighty hunter/marksman character in RIFT. I'm also working on pictures of where I'm up to in our trip. I'll see about posting today! I'm a bum but we're allowed! :)

Made cabbage chicken yesterday, what an incredibly tasty and easy dish to make. Though it calls for chicken breast, I've only done it that way once. Decided to try tearing down the roast chicken we get from Costco and ever since then, it's the way I make it. YUM!!

Steve also made snickerdoodle cake, this time in keylime flavor...both the cake and the cream cheese frosting are keylime and mmmmmm, so yummy!!

Finally, steve took a package of hamburger meat, added shitake mushrooms and a world of spices...that will be our dinner tonight, can't wait!

It's been really cold and damp here but we haven't got a lot of water yet...it's been raining but our seasonal pond has just a small amount of water in it--it's usually totally full right now so I'm feeling some concern. We'll have to wait and see, as often the rain adds up in the new year and all is well. Crossing our fingers. What about you guys? Less rain this year?

Ok, off I go! Have a wonderful day!

They say Moose are more dangerous than Bears and we keep our distance. Usually we've seen them from the car, but once when we were walking, a cow and two calves.
