Columbia Hybrid Lady's Slipper

This Lady's Slipper is a natural hybrid of the Mountain Lady's Slipper (white pouch) and the Northern Yellow Lady's Slipper (yellow pouch). It grows in a mixed population that includes flowers that resemble each parent as well as these flowers with a pale yellow pouch which clearly are intermediate between the two.

Thanks for the update, I'm glad that you guys are happy with your van--it would be no good if one or both of you couldn't stand the arrangement. I do envy your ability to easily go where we cannot even consider! :)
Yeah, I gotta say, The Cove Palisades State Park was a total gem. Hot as the dickens but so what...get up earlier if you want to hike the Tam-a-Lau trail! Truly, the area really surprised us and we felt like we were in Arizona or whatnot. Because it gets so hot I think there are always campsites available. Also, a few years back the drought nearly dried the lake and killed the businesses all around. They are coming back but people have elephant memories and those who came when the lake was disasterously low don't seem to be coming back like they used to. Nice for us, not great for area businesses.
The dead transmission is a financial bummer but you know, I'm actually happy that it happened when it did. I suspected something was terribly wrong when I began smelling the same stink as I did when our last truck's tranny died. Steve brushed off my concerns but I decided that once we got home, the truck was going to get seriously serviced and I knew it would cost some major coin. Fact is though, we paid much less than what this truck is worth so whatever--and in the end we'll have a truck that we'll be able to trust on our long voyages. It all works out. :)
