A is for Anthocyanins and Anthoxanthins
Anthocyanins and anthoxanthins are the compounds that produce color in plants and flowers. Anthocyanins produce the red-blue colors and anthoxanthins produce yellow.

This is a Brassolaeliocattleya hybrid that was awarded by the American Orchid Society and that was unregistered when it was awarded. It was shown by and the award was given to Carmela Orchids, but I have never been able to find the name of the hybrid. If anyone knows I would be happy to hear from them.

Someone on the Orchid Board was able to identify this as Brassolaeliocattleya Mem. John Odom 'Carmela' - a real mouthful.
