Great Hedge Nettle

Another of our native wildflowers, the Great Hedge Nettle stands up to five feet tall and is found on the wetter west side of the mountain ranges in Washington and Oregon. Its botanical name is Stachys chamisonis var. cooleyae. This example was photographed on the road to Lake Elizabeth in the North Cascades.
