You having more snow this year than last? Considering what we've been going through in the west, it's encouraging to see.

Yes, in fact most of it started yesterday and will continue for another day, or so. Western Cascades were really inundated, in places that don't even have enough road equipment to deal with it.

I just read today that you were getting an unusual amount of snow and predicted to be hit with very low temperatures.

Though you'd never know it from the looks of things, we're having an unusually cold winter. Now don't get mad when I explain how that is defined -- that in Palm Springs we've been over 90 days with no day where the high was 80 or higher. Similarly, LA has had the coldest February on record, but same sort of metric -- it hasn't hit 70 once so far this February.

I am never mad about temps below 80, in fact I am thrilled by below 70! Yes, lots of snow, but only one night that was 9 degrees. In general, it's been a mild to moderate winter. The weatherman said that Oregon now has more than 100% of its optimal snow pack. Wheee!

This is when I still think how nice it would be to live in the Bay Area again and be able to get up there or over to Reno to see the snow and the green hills....
