My grandchildren's teenage cousin in Santa Cruz, California. Looks to me like it's at Steamer Lane, which was the hot place to hang out when I was in high school, whether you surfed or not. The memories this calls up are all about being young and having fun in the sun. Not a care in the world. This is where my son grew up.

Those look like cormorants, just by their size and profiles. There are two types on the coast, but I can't tell them apart. Thanks, Rosa!
