hope the smoke isn't as bad for you as last year - here it has let up a bit and hasn't been as bad as last year. still disturbing.

graveyards bring up so many emotions for me. as a youngster they were cool, now they feel intense, though still a curiosity.

It is much, much worse, raingirl. The fires are bigger and more numerous, the biggest ones in N. CA. I have only been able to go out to buy groceries and visit my mother. The public pool is closed and most kids are not taking part in sports or even prolonged bide-riding. This has been going on every day since early July, not a single one with a clear, blue sky. It's making everyone a little crazy!

Your comment is interesting about graves. As a child I didn't think about them at all. Now, they are melancholy, but also seem kind of comforting...or something like that. Strange!
