Former Mental Health Residential Treatment

Former Mental Health Residential Treatment
Abandoned for a new building about seven years ago. Clients lived here for assorted lengths of time, after which they could live independently or in group homes. Most were from Klamath County. Some were transferred from the state locked facility in northern Oregon when they were ready for a lower level of care.

, Andy Rodker, Gudrun and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Do you miss the work or the place or the people, Diane?

Although the building was falling apart, it really was a much better layout than the new one in many ways. There wasn't a "hospital feel" to the old one. More like a studio apartment for each person. We have big old buildings, too, in big cities. Some are awful, some are nice. Thanks, Gudrun!

I miss the clients, crazy as they were, and my high-quality colleagues. I do not miss the administration, which was quite adversarial and disrespectful toward the professionals who worked for them. Really, I think for most of us, the work isn't the problem, it can be the bosses who make things miserable.
