Don't know, that's just how cattle farmers do it. I think they call cattle that is about to be sold "beef."

Maybe it is a way to avoid mixing that livestock to milking cows.

In the US, dairy cows are not mixed with beef cattle - although maybe on a very small farm they have them together in a field. I did not notice if there was another area marked "Cows" - well, maybe we will never know the answer to these mysteries.
