Lake Ewauna, Mt. Shasta in the center distance

There were many mills lining the shore of this lake during the peak of the local logging industry, from the early 20th Century to about WWII. The lake itself was used as floating storage for logs that were hauled up into the mill with huge pulleys. There are still many logs at the bottom of the lake, some of which were reclaimed in the 1990s, but others still pop up to the surface on occasion.
All mills were demolished long ago except for one sawdust burner and an old brick mechanical building. www.ipernity.com/doc/1227338/album/766844?view=0
The lake is now used by kayakers and a rowing club, but mainly by thousands of water fowl. There was a plan for "waterfront development" in the 1990s, but that has never gotten off the ground due to poor economic times in the area.
