Norwegian immigrant

Norwegian immigrant
A sizable number of Norwegians and Swedes immigrated to the Pacific Northwest of the USA to work as fishermen and loggers, though not nearly as many as in the Dakotas and Minnesota. Haakon "Bob" Jacobsen (above) 1892-1966, was born in Stavanger, Norway. I looked up Stavanger on Google Earth. It is a large city in the SW. I wonder if he has family there, still.

.. one is so old, it is really tough driving on what are 'roads'

Oh, my, I almost got "high centered" in an old cemetery north of town. The weeds were so high and the tracks so deep I thought I would never get back to the gate. Probably trimmed off a lot of small bushes with my axles. I held my breath waiting to hear some awful noise from my car, but I didn't. I wish I had a small truck! So often, I get on the edge of being stranded or stuck (I actually did once!) in my wanderings around the countryside. Your eastern cems would be much older than ours, of course! To find a grave here with a person born in the late 1700s is a shock and I have found only one, so far.

really great photo. love the processing. and the composition. i used to love to walk through cemeteries. now i like to find ancestor graves.

thanks for adding to 'plants vs structures' so i could find this!
