.. used to live in Winston-Salem NC at a house that had 2 sets of these steps -- like this at the sidewalk and the other about half-way down the walkway from the house
... really thought they were fascinating [ in an old neighborhood ] until ---

.. one day walked out the door to get my ride to work --------- totally forgot about the steps at the sidewalk

.. yes, I don't do flat on my face very well ---- at least it was in about 8 inches of snow !
