HFF ~ from Lladdwyn Island

This magical Island off the south eastern shores on the Isle of Anglesey has always been special. Almost hidden off the track by Newborough forest and its namesake Warren, it has three main structures; this shot shows the Tower, the others are the remains of the St Dwynwen church and the Lighthouse. A couple of impressive crosses complete the picture.
I am stood here behind a row of four stone houses built before 1830 for the lighthouse keepers, pilots and lifeboat men. It was closed in 1943 and the lighthouse went out in the 1970’s.

Great that you liked this scene Gordon. A scene I think that most people would miss but it is the twisted fence that leads our eye here. A wonderful place that we have wanted to return to for a number of years. We think it may be 20 years back when we were last here. Glad that Rosemary liked it too.

Quote a detour from the railway stations here Peter but well worth the time and effort to visit. One must head for the village of Newborough and then the toll road to the beach parking. Glad you enjoyed this.

Hi Gudrun, yes this can be a very windy place indeed as the nearby sand-dunes attest. You are also right about that causeway. We had to wait for the tide to go out somewhat before we could get over that narrow stretch of water over the wet sand. Once over, the effort was worth while.
