HWW – Another Pen-y-ghent view
Back to the Yorkshire Dales for this one taken a few years back now. Another dry-stone wall takes our eye towards the star of the show with one of the Dales ‘Three-peaks’ mountains, Pen-Y-Ghent. At 694m, not the highest mountain in the world but this stands out for many miles in these parts. Of course God’s light spot-lights the peak –as it should be!

Yes the sunshine makes this. I do have another almost duplicate shot here in Ipernity but the lighting is better on this taken a few years earlier. Yes these walls create a lot of work over the years.

A remarkably beautiful landscape image Herb...........I love the meandering dry stone wall which seems to lead to a perfect viewpoint towards Pen-Y-Ghent. The sky and cloud formations are gorgeous and as you suggest the heavenly light shines on the mountain beautifully!

es ist immer wieder erstaunlich, welche Mühe man sich mit diesen Mauern gemacht hat.
Die Steine mussten zusmmengtragen und dann passlich gefügt werden. Und wie lange solche Mauern die Zeit überdauern.

Thanks for this Ernst. As spoken about before, these walls were built many years ago now -sometimes centuries, so you can see they were built to last. I expect them to last much longer yet. Put together by very skilled people who knew their art.
