Lisbon meeting - Carmo

Convento do Carmo is a former convent of the Order of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, commonly called Carmelites, located in Lisbon near Rossio and St. George's Castle.
The convent is located in the friguesia of Santa Maria Maior and was destroyed during the 1755 earthquake that also destroyed the Gothic Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (in Portuguese Igreja do Carmo), which was at the time the largest Gothic church in the city.
Traces of the colossal earthquake remain on the southern facade of the convent, still visible from the new city.
