A stark reminder of what walls do to people trying to flee oppression.
I took this photo on our trip to Germany in 2009 to visit family and friends. This is a monument to remind us all that 1,200 people had lost their lives while climbing the wall from East Berlin into West Berlin. They were shot.

Ja, aber denk mal an die Idee, dass eine Wand zwischen Amerika und Mexico in den Plaenen unseres Praesidenten herumschwirrt. Zum Glueck ist dafuer noch kein Geld bereitgestellt worden. Dieses Foto soll ein Mahnmal sein, wie solche Mauer auf keinen Fall helfen wuerde.

I agree, Ron. That was my reason for posting this photo. I wish I could get it out there in the country for more people to be reminded of the atrocities that people had to endure over 40 years.
