I had a difficult tie getting off the ground after taking this picture. The flowers are Birdsfoot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), in bloom everywhere along the roads right now.

I have a recent photo that might be of one of these or it might be of a silver checkerspot. The two species are very similar. My entomologist friend says he can't tell them apart without comparing with known specimens. Maybe you should start carrying a walking staff. It could double as a camera support. ;-)
