Wood duck (F) - Aix sponsa

Wood duck (F) - Aix sponsa
This morning on my walk with the dogs, I spotted these two birds swimming around the pond. I built a wooden nesting box many years ago specifically to attract wood ducks.

Leo W, Andrea Ertl, Alexander Prolygin and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

It's amazing how different the female is from the male........but she's a beauty in her own right, I think.

Very well composed and taken Ronald...........I particularly like the reflections!

Thanks, Keith. I suppose the female needs to have better camouflage while sitting on the nest. Probably these birds will be moving much further north for nesting.
