For three years I haven't seen a single swallowtail of any variety in Spain. Before, I saw lots. I wonder what the reason is.
A super capture!

Thanks, Andy. Well, the obvious answers are pesticides and habitat loss. I hope the Spanish butterflies can recover from whatever is happening.

Life is tough. This one was a great model - she flew up to this branch and just sat there making various poses. Thanks for the visit, Peggy.

Wonderful! I haven't seen one in a couple of years. In the state forest upnorth I have watched a large congregation one year, dozens of them 'mudding' on the gravel road after the rain.

Thanks, Dörthe. I got some photos of them puddling/mudding in Alabama a couple of months ago. www.ipernity.com/doc/1050739/48650660

A terrific capture Ronald. A beautiful butterfly and nicely posed so that you can get the full effect of those wonderful markings.

Thank you very much, Carol. It was a particularly good pose, and the butterfly gave me plenty of time to take its photo.

Ja.
