Gasteracantha cancriformis

Gasteracantha cancriformis
A spiny orb weaving spider. Often when they see the camera, they flip upside down on their web to display their dorsal side.

Thank you, Dörthe. It is difficult to keep in focus when the camera is so close to the spider.

Thank you, Diane. They are quite small, but it is easy to get trapped in their webs while walking through the forest. The spines are quite sharp.

Gaahhhh, I hate walking into a web - even thought I'm not really arachnophobic. ;-o
