Thanks, Pam. I doubt you are seeing little egrets. The Audubon Field Guide says they have only been seen on the Atlantic coast. More likely in OK would be snowy egrets or cattle egrets. Behavior sounds like cattle egrets.

They come in the late Spring to find the cows they left behind late last Summer !!

I thought it an odd mistake for you to make. I'd have to look it up, but I believe cattle egrets have been in North America for a relatively short time.
