Pineapple in bloom

Pineapple in bloom
No it's not THAT tropical here. The pineapples spend the winter in the house.

Just read Wiki to see how you grow one of these, seems quiet complicated.

It's really not complicated, You twist (do not cut) the top off the fruit and peel off the lowest rows of leaves until there are some roots exposed. Then you put it in some good soil and keep it well-watered in a sunny place. It may take a few years before the plant makes a fruit.

New to me too. Splendid shot!
What are the flowers like when fully open, I wonder?

They don't appear in the grocery stores until the flowers are gone. ;-)
