Many thanks for putting an apostrophe in the correct place, Joe. Miss Sturrock would have approved! Did you ever go guising as a child? I remember it well in the 1940s early 50s, especially the recitations or singing.

Guising: Children dress up and go from house to house, telling jokes and stories or singing songs in exchange for sweeties and food.
