What are the next steps...???

I don't speak for IMA. But if I'm not wrong, once the IMA has a legal existence they will :
- start the crowdfunding campaign
- construct a business plan to to present their project to the ipernity stakeholders (including owners and shareholders)
Those two actions will be done in the same time.
I strongly suggest anyone who wants direct answers from IMA to join their group.

I assume this means iPernity will now NOT closedown at the end of February?

Colin - it is looking good at this moment, but my understatning is that confirmation will only come after the ipernity team (or the ipernity sa,? the shareholders? - sorry don't know the official name for the ipernity entity that can approve the IMA taking over, or the IMA plan so the regular ipernity stays open till the end of the year) approves the IMA proposition.

Sorry if this is an unclear statement - just wanted you to know that as of this moment nothing is for sure, just very hopeful and moving forward fast.

Yes, and we are itching to begin our work.

Will free (limited) accounts still be available? I run a (real life) photo group that uses Ipernity for photo sharing. We have some people in the group who have never been "Club" members. They still need to have limited access to post 5-10 photos per month. For some people, 50 euros/year is cost-prohibitive.

Best to post any such queries or questions within the Ipernity Members Association Project group itself! :)

Below is the section of the survey that clearly says there will be a €50 Fee to maintain your IP account and this means no free accounts when the Ipernity Members Association
( I have addressed this for confirmation will William Sunderland and he confirmed the fee is mandatory to maintain an account)

"In addition, 2/3 of the respondents agreed to an annual membership fee of 50€ or above. As a result, the IMA annual fee will be 50€, which is competitive with other photo sharing sites and will offer a sustainable, viable long-term future for the Ipernity platform"

Hope it doesn't take too much time. I see more and more people leaving and/or being not active any longer on Ipernity.

The high fee will send even more running for the hills even if the platform is saved... They will lose membership rather than gain it.

Ist es Euch möglich in absehbarer Zeit einen Geschäfts- und/oder Zeitplan vor zu legen, an Hand dessen der geneigte IP-Nutzer in der Lage ist, ab zu sehen, ob ein weiteres Engagement sinnvoll ist und ob es berechtigte Chancen gibt, daran zu glauben, dass diese platform weiter bestehen kann?

See more and more people leaving Ipernity or being less or not active at all any longer.

It looks to me like the IMA is the best way to ensure the future of IP.

I think all members will have to be patient with the process, and not expect to be constantly updated. When a discussion site I know of was threatened with closure (Mustardland, a popular discussion platform for fans of the iconic British radio programme The Archers) it took nine months to finally set up its own members' association. There are many legal and technical issues to work through.

The people involved in getting the new IP up and running will have to put in a great deal of time and energy....but they already, to me, seem to have made good decisions about structuring the new IP ..and I'm optimistic that IP will work well in future, run more collaboratively with its membership.

What I'm trying to say, I think, is "don't panic". Let's just stay with it, see what happens, and be prepared to give financial support as and when it is called for by the IMA. None of the problems and anxieties people have raised seem insurmountable in the long term.

It's understandable that people here will let their membership lapse and look for other sites for their photographs. We can do that and still back the IMA in its efforts to renew Ipernity when the time comes.

Hi - glad the IMA is moving forward with possible rescue of Ipernity. Your last notice was that the site was closing at the end of February (after a stay from the end of January closing).

Trying to be patient - I understand how complex this must be, and I know negotiations aren't finished, but:

can we know if the closing at the end of February (in two days) is still in place unless the negotiations finish before that?

I don't think anyone close to the site or IMA is stopping to think what this all looks like from the outside - last day of February tomorrow and nobody has said that its NOT the last day

This NOT communicating is quite frustating !!

I wonder if the iPernity Team is a bot that is currently offline ?

We are still in discussions with Ipernity S.A. re: the future of this site and its transfer. Negotiations are ongoing to protect the best interests of the members. At the same time we are investigating crowdfunding options so we can take the next step when negotiations are concluded.

Whilst interesting to at least have confirmation from the IMA that negotiations are ongoing I still think it would be appropriate to have a statement from Team Ipernity especially as people have asked specific questions and given the significance of today's date.

The IMA might still be fighting hard to save the site, but for the moment we are still supposed to be customers of ipernity! ;)

A lot is written about the _income_ of the future structure: how many are willing to pay how much, amounting to so much per year... I still have not found an explicit and quantitative statement concerning the _spending_ and how Ipernity was managed into its present dead-end. What will the income of the IMA be used for? Compensate the shareholders? Keep the existing team doing business as usual? What the topics of the current -negociations_? Are the members expected to pay and shut up?

04/03/2017 news: Ipernity SA said to get in touch with us this weekend (4-5/03/2017) to give their point of view regarding our offer.
At this hour we are still waiting for their communication. As soon as it is known, we will consult each other then indicate you the terms and implications.

Ipernity SA has always been positive regarding our project and always wished to make our points of view coincide. That's all we can say right now.

Very encouraging comments made today in the Ipernity Members Association Project group by William Sutherland:

I remain confident and optimistic there will be a successful restructuring of the Ipernity platform. Because of this, I remain active commenting, moderating in groups requiring this activity and recently posted an article that took time and research, not to mention getting some of my photos I took over the last 10 years and putting them together to present in the article. I would not put in this time and effort if I thought the platform would shut down and everything would be lost.

It is my strong belief that the new Ipernity will be a vibrant and viable platform with a bright, long-term stable future with a loyal membership base ensuring a stronger and more viable platform.

07/03/2017: IMA received its receipt for filing. This allows IMA to begin business -- open a bank account for CrowdFunding and ultimately running the Ipernity platform. It also means the official certificate will be issued in about 2-3 weeks.

09/03/2017: IMA and Ipernity S.A. are close to an agreement. I'm hopeful it will be attained sometime tomorrow. If so, the terms will be published here. Please know that the agreement if finalized is aimed at meeting the best interests of the Ipernity platform, IMA and the platform's members' interests.

In anticipation, IMA will be establishing a bank account in France and opening a Paypal account to facilitate revenue receipts and payment of operating expenses. IMA also anticipates the start of a CrowdFunding campaign early next week and once it is underway, daily updates will be given. Please know, it is critical people contribute as soon as possible without delay when CrowdFunding is underway since a decision will have to be made within about 2 weeks whether to continue to the platform into April. The combined March and April costs are approximately 10,000 € (Amazon in agreement with Ipernity S.A. allowed the platform to operate this month with expectation that the payments will be made in April).

In addition, please be aware that annual operating expenses for the Ipernity platform are approximately 66,000 €. This does not provide any funds for contingency reserves, future obligations, platform upgrades (for example, future conversion to https protocol as some have suggested), rate increases or other unanticipated expenses or shortfalls. Nevertheless, a stable club membership base near the reported membership figure is more than sufficient to maintain viability and offer a bright long-term future.

13/03/2017: The CrowdFunding campaign as officially begun. Even though the goal is listed at $25,000, we need approximately $30,000. If people honor their survey commitments, we should realize this.

We have approximately 2 weeks to achieve this goal. Even though it is a short time frame, it is achievable if everyone acts with urgency. I just made my own contribution and doubled what I had said I would offer in the survey so that the crowdfunding campaign begins with a good start.
