For me music has always represented a storyline and trip through time and space. And that is why especially ambient music works so well as a soundtrack for videos, slideshows, movies, or somewhat any kind of presentation.And that is why I give you two different train journeys.

Second one is maybe not exactly ambient music, and the song is not long enough for my standards (should last over six minutes). But it is a good example on what skillful artist can do with the music.
On Vogel's 360 video make sure you click on it to drag the point of view around. Especially look aback when Reham Khan starts to sing at 1:17.

The melody I believe is played on a shakuhachi, which is almost as passe an instrument as a panpipe, even though in this case it is part of the cultural heritage of these guys. So if they replaced the pipes and other acoustic instruments with synths, would it stop the song being played as background music in the shopping malls and elevators and thus make it comtemporary in its own right?
