Blog number three today you unlucky lot.
Wanting something different to do with sausages (No coarse remarks please)I found this recipe on B.B.C. Food.
Here it is with verdict at the end.

Sausage and bacon bake with a cheese crust
Ingredients

1 tbsp olive oil

½ onion, finely chopped ( I used a full small one)

3 large sausages (I used 4)

2 rashers smoked back bacon, cut into strips (I used 3)

100g/3½oz canned plum tomatoes, chopped

1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, chopped

85g/3oz strong cheddar cheese, grated I used 4oz)

2 slices white bread
I added a crushed garlic glove and a tablespoon of Worcester sauce for a lift

Preparation method

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.

Heat the olive oil in an frying pan and fry the onion for 4-5 minutes, or until soft, then remove from the pan. Add the sausages to the pan and fry for 4-5 minutes, or until cooked and browned on all sides, then remove from the pan and slice into 4-5 diagonal slices.

Fry the bacon strips in the pan for 3-4 minutes, or until crisp. Return the onion and sausage slices to the pan, stir in the tomatoes and parsley,( I added the garlic and sauce at this stage) and transfer to an ovenproof baking dish. Top with the grated cheese and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden-brown and bubbling.

Place the bread in a food processor and pulse to make breadcrumbs, then remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle over the breadcrumbs before returning to the oven for a further 2-3 minutes.

Serve.

Verdict A very tasty dish but needs tweaking, next time I will add more onion, garlic, tomatoes, cheese and ditch the breadcrumbs. It looked dry on the plate but it wasn't at all, definitely one for the recipe book, really tasty, we both agreed no more sausage casseroles for us
