We hit 80f again this afternoon much too hot for mowing although the back is growing at a rate of knots. I decided on clearing grass from the bushes ,I started with the rose and that was easily done the gooseberry however needed a different approach.
No gardening gloves here I donned a pair of welding gauntlets and set to work with my little three pronged fork( it is angled at 90o so perfect for the job). As a moved to the back side by the wall I had to pull the grass out,a good tug brought a handful out but there was a stinging nettle hiding in there and it attacked my lower shin. Trying to be more careful a started in again,a stubborn clump wasn't about to move,a good tug freed it and another nettle struck, this time just above the knee. Not the most painful of injuries but getting outsmarted by nettles isn't fun.
Those two done I looked at the remainder and decided to leave them until after the mowing tomorrow.
Yime or a cold beer and a crossword wotk over untul a short while ago hen I fed the plants and called it a day.I got a surprise visit from Ellen as the afternoon dwindle away which is always nice.
Back into battle tomorrow weather permitting

Been quite gloomy here and not that warm. No gardening for me.
